"Willie was an icon in the North Carolina legal services community
and indeed throughout the eastern part of the state for his
community and social justice work," noted George Hausen, executive
director of Legal Aid of North Carolina. "He helped launch
legal services down east and served as the executive director of
Pamlico Sound Legal Services (PSLS) for many years when it was
part of LSNC. Willie was a founding and participating board
member of LANC and worked hard to help shape our organization...."
