MLK Intern, Charlotte
What inspired you to pursue a career in law or social justice?
Growing up in a community with a wide socioeconomic gap, and various books / media.
Why did you choose to intern with Legal Aid of North Carolina?
It seems like a very well-established organization that “knows what to do with” interns. I got the impression that I wouldn’t be pushing papers all summer and I am pleased to see that this is true.
What do you hope to gain from your experience at LANC?
Hands-on experience and a realistic idea of what the work entails.
What are your long-term career goals, and how do you envision your experience at LANC contributing to them?
A career in public service and anti-poverty law! I see my experience at LANC contributing in a significant way to this goal, as this is at the heart of LANC’s work.
