Sarah D’Amato

About

Sarah leads the Durham Eviction Diversion Program at LANC, a grant-funded program designed to provide tenants in the City of Durham with court representation and other legal assistance for their housing-related issues.

Prior to joining Legal Aid in 2019, Sarah practiced family law as a solo practitioner primarily for low-income and Spanish-speaking individuals for 10 years. Sarah received her undergraduate degree in Foreign Language Education (Spanish) from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was a NC Teaching Fellow, and her law degree from NCCU, where she was an evening student (while she made biscuits during the day).

She lives in Pittsboro with her husband, two daughters, and three dogs. To relax, she enjoys hiking, camping, cheering on the Tar Heels, fostering beagles with the Triangle Beagle Rescue, and planning her next international trip. She is currently section-hiking the Mountains-to-Sea trail with hopes to complete it in 2025.
