Emily Mistr

About

Emily Mistr is the Project Director of Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Second Chance Project, where she leads a statewide team providing expunction and driver’s license restoration services to hundreds of clients each year. An expert in motor vehicle law, expunction, and criminal justice policy, she has nearly two decades of experience developing programs that expand equitable access to legal resources.

Before joining Legal Aid, Emily served as Interim Director and Adjunct Clinical Professor at Campbell University’s Blanchard Community Law Clinic, where she doubled student participation and grew client services from 100 to over 400 annually. She also spent 14 years as an Assistant Public Defender in Wake County, where she became the office’s leading authority on motor vehicle law.
