Isaac Sturgill

Isaac is from Asheville, North Carolina. He graduated from the Charlotte School of Law in 2012 and began working with Legal Aid shortly thereafter. He has litigated hundreds of cases since he started and has represented tenants in various state courts, including Small Claims Court, District Court, Superior Court, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and the North Carolina Supreme Court. He has also litigated cases in United States District Court in the Western District of North Carolina and has represented tenants in administrative hearings.

Isaac received the Dogwood Award in 2020 from Attorney General Josh Stein for his contributions in keeping families living in hotels housed during the pandemic. He also authored the Eviction Defense Manual, which is a free resource available to help tenants without lawyers defend themselves in court.
