Megan Hennings

Megan Hennings is the Innovation Lab’s Program Manager & Staff Attorney. In this role, she oversees internal design processes, staff and community engagement, and technology-driven solutions to enhance legal service delivery, particularly in rural communities. She previously served as a Staff Attorney in Legal Aid’s Gastonia office under the Everett Community Lawyer Fellowship where she worked on housing, domestic violence, and consumer protection cases. 

Megan earned her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was a Miami Public Interest Scholar and received multiple awards for innovation and academic excellence. During law school, Megan interned with a variety of non-profit legal organizations and was on the Housing Justice team in the law school’s Environmental Justice Clinic. She also worked as a Research Assistant for the university’s Office of Civic & Community Engagement writing a policy toolkit on how extreme heat intersects with affordable housing and as a Project Manager for an interdisciplinary climate justice project sponsored by the university.

Before law school, she gained experience in nonprofit administration, external communications, and international education through working at UNC Charlotte and the Kino Bay Center for Ecological & Cultural Studies in Sonora, Mexico. She received her Bachelor’s degree from UNC Charlotte and double majored in Spanish and Political Science.
